Nadiya Isikova

Nadiya is a dedicated and accomplished dual-qualified (UA/England) shipping lawyer with a proven track record in the shipping industry since 2007. She is holding a Master degree in Maritime Law and Policy from World Maritime University (Sweden) and more than 15 years of practical experience at the multinational environment in the maritime law firms and shipping companies in Ukraine and Greece.

Nadiya has a gained an experience as attorney-in- law in the local courts in Odessa as well as working as a lawyer in the top-tier maritime law firm in Odessa involved in admiralty litigation, international arbitration (LMAA, FOSFA, GAFTA, SCC), cargo claims handling, charter-party disputes, collision claims, sale and purchase and ship registration. For the last 10 years she has been based in Greece working as in-house in the shipping companies with the offshore and bulk carrier fleets leading their Legal and Insurance department.

Since 2019 Nadiya had joined RABOMIZO Law Firm as ad-hoc Counsel in the LCIA, LMAA, GAFTA Arbitration and had became a full partner since 2023 bringing her in-house vision and enforcing the firm’s commitment to serve the best interests of the shipping industry.

Nadiya focuses on international maritime law, arbitration and cross-border disputes in the shipping and international trade sectors. Her professional expertise includes strategic handling of complex international matters, representation in arbitration proceedings and advisory work involving multi-jurisdictional corporate structures.

She also maintains a strong professional interest in ocean governance and international environmental law, particularly in the area of multilateral regulation of the marine environment and global environmental policy.

At the offshore shipping Group, she was covering legal matters (such as claims handling, vessel sale and purchase, bareboat ship registration) in Caspian Sea Region and Venezuela. She has also been a company secretary dealing with registration and maintenance of the Group of complex group of companies registered in UK, Marshall Islands, Cyprus, Singapore, Venezuela and CIS countries. 

In the bulk carriers company, as a head of the legal and insurance department, she has gain additional experience with ship finance (preparing KYC documentation for obtaining the loans from the private banking and hedge fund) and insurances (including the renewals of the P&I, H&M, War Risks, K&R, Loss of Hire, Delay covers), as well as the handling the cargo/crew claims/pollution claims and advising on the charter parties/demurrage disputes and leading negotiations.

Ocean governance and environmentalism

Nadiya has a strong passion to the ocean governance and environmentalism. Following this call, she moved to Brussels for 3 years where she worked as a consultant for UNEP and of the Interim Secretariat of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention) preparing the analysis the EU landscape and synthesis of key elements of the EU budget pertinent to UNEP at country level in the Caspian region.

And also she had a trainsheep in the EU Commission (Unit F3 of the Global cooperation and multilateralism of the DG Environment), where she was involved at various global environmental processes, including preparation of the EU position for the Conventions of the Parties of the international environmental multilateral agreements (such as CITES and CBD, negotiation of the Global Agreement on plastics and other UNEP-led working groups).
